Live Oak trees in the traffic islands

Live Oak trees are everywhere on Seabrook Island, SC. Even in the traffic islands. This photo was taken by Denton Harryman and posted at SeabrookIslandDailyPhoto.com on 12/31/2009.
Seabrook Island has done a great job of integrating their roads and the Live Oak trees, as shown in today’s photo .. Note that Live Oaks stay green year round .. Also, Wikipedia confirm what I had always heard .. that Live Oak trees where widely used in early American shipbuilding.

PS: There are signs which let drivers know that they must not pass bicyclist in the traffic islands. In my experience bicycles are more commonly used, on Seabrook Island, than cars (smile).

Personally, the sunlight and the shadows on Seabrook Island attract my camera lens .. today’s photo shows one of the homes on Seabrook Island however what was appealing to me is the how the sunlight is captured in the grass and in the Spanish moss.

The Christmas Tree on the Green at Fresh Fields Village. This photo was taken by Denton Harryman and posted at SeabrookIslandDailyPhoto.com on 12/29/2009.
Today’s photo shows the Christmas Tree at Fresh Fields Villages .. I recommend those visiting Seabrook Island, check the Fresh Fields Villages events page. The village is located at the crossroads of Kiawah, Seabrook, and Johns Islands .. and there are often events on their Green.
